Hi everyone ;)
Congratulations - you have found the very first entry to my blog!
I moved to Devon with my partner and little girl, then only 7 months old, about a year and a half ago and I'm going to share my experiences with you.
We had wanted to get out of London for a long, long time (I had planned on retiring by my 45th birthday - that didn't happen!) but the imminent arrival of our first extra burden on the planet acted as a catalyst and we just went for it.
I had to get the flat finished so we could sell and my partner, concentrated on being pregnant and being a good mum (giving up smoking and alcohol and eating healthily).
It was a long job, painting the entire flat, installing a shower, increasing the lease-hold (that's deserves a chapter in itself) selling the flat, moving entirely to hundreds of miles away, finding somewhere new to live... . It goes on but I'll leave out some of the more gruesome bits.
It all turned out well in the end though, we got through it and are now living in paradise or as our friend puts it:
"You've died and gone to Devon"
It is truly beautiful here and we haven't looked back once. As the weeks go by I'll fill you in on why the move was so right for us. In the meantime, here are some images:
