Bishop's Palace Interiors

The Bishop's Palace and Gardens, near Wells Cathedral, has been the home of the Bishops of Bath and Wells since 1206. Visitors to the Bishop's Palace and Gardens can tour the First Floor Gallery (pictured below) , State Rooms, and the Bishop's Chapel. The First Floor Gallery and State Rooms are reached by way of a Jacobean staircase.

The Bishop's Chapel (see below) was added by Bishop Robert Burnell at the end of the 13th century and has been recently re-ordered.

Inside the Bishop's Chapel can be seen symbols of the Bishop's authority. The chapel itself has been used as a house of prayer throughout the centuries.

The Bishop's Palace and Gardens is open daily from 13 February to 31 October in 2010. Admission is £5.50 for adults, £2.20 for children (5-18 years), and £13.20 for families (2 adults and 2 children).
