Shakespeare's Grave

William Shakespeare and his wife Anne are interred at the Holy Trinity Church in Stratford-upon-Avon. The church dates from 1210. Shakespeare himself was a "lay rector" at the church. Shakespeare's burial took place in 1616.

Shakespeare's friends and widow erected his bust (see below) on a wall in the church in 1623.

Shakespeare's widow, Anne, is buried here as well as other members of the family. The register entries of Shakepeare's baptism and burial are also to be found here.

Holy Trinity Church

The Holy Trinity Church is open to visitors. Visitors to Shaespeare's grave are asked to make a donation of £1.50. Summer opening hours (April-September) are Monday-Saturday: 8.30am - 6pm and Sunday: 12.30 pm - 5 pm.
Visitors are welcome throughout the year but opening hours vary.
