Leigh Woods

Leigh Woods are a broadleaf woodland on a plateau above the Avon Gorge in Bristol. Designated pathways (see the map below) offer the visitor relaxing walks through oak, small-leaf lime, and ash forests. The site is now managed by the National Trust.

Leigh Woods

Walking along the pathway leads the visitor to Stokeleigh Camp (see below) which was an Iron Age hill fort (dating from 350BC) that defended the crossing over the River Avon.

Further along the pathway, visitors are treated to spectacular views of the Avon Gorge like the one below.

Leigh Woods are located near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol and can be accessed via North Road. Visitors to Leigh Woods may also want to visit nearby Tyntesfield.
