Urbis Manchester

Urbis is a modern exhibition center in Cathedral Gardens near the Arndale Center, the Wheel of Manchester and Manchester Cathedral in central Manchester.

Urbis opened in 2002 as part of the redevelopment of the area and was designed by Ian Simpsons Architects.

Urbis will play host to the the National Football Museum from summer 2012. The museum is moving to its new home from Preston. Also in the glass-fronted building are the studios and offices of Channel M, a local, financially-troubled television station.

The Modern Bar and Restaurant, a trendy bar and eatery is located on the top floor of the building with excellent views over the city. The Urbis shop sells Manchester-related souvenirs, prints and books.

Urbis hosted a number of changing exhibitions on popular music, culture and fashion before the exhibition space was temporary closed to accommodate the National Football Museum.
